VIKKILONDON STYLING FOR #WFW2012…

Hello lovely followers, so its been almost two weeks since I last posted and I know  a few of you have wondered where I have disappeared too!? Well, I have been planning this massive shoot that I was to be styling and directing for the Winchester Fashion Week magazine, and I have to say, all the stress and worries were definitely worth it. I can’t reveal the final images just yet but I thought I’d give you a quick insight into the shoot and show some behind the scenes action…

Location: THE ROOF of One New Change shopping centre. It took a lot of organising but I finally secured the roof as our location for the day, and it was incredible. I’m a regular to the roof however the rest of the team had never been up there before and their faces when they arrived to this were priceless…

The Look I was going for: Sleek, fierce, “lots of lines”. All of the clothes, designed and made by my dear friend Natalie Cheung, were fantastic to work with and a pleasure to style. The detail that goes into each garment is incredible. Watch out for this young designer over the next couple of years as she takes the fashion industry by storm!!!

From left to right: Theo Williams (Photographer extraordinaire!), Ivory Bella (MUA), Myself (Stylist/Creative Director), Amanda Renberg (Our gorgeous model from Sapphires Model Management), Natalie Cheung (Designer).

I feel so privileged to have had such an amazing team to work with so thank you all so much for making it the massive success it was! And also a special shout out to Hannah Bunnage and Ted Smith for being there as moral support during the shoot, we obviously couldn’t have done it without you guys either!!

One of my favourite behind the scenes images from the day…look at the crowd we had watching us at work!!!

Amanda’s gymnastic background came in handy when balancing on the hand rail…which gave us a great shot and relieved Amanda’s poor feet from those sky scraper heels!!

Amanda could definitely do ‘fierce’!!!

So that’s all I can reveal right now, but keep a look out for a post on here in June where I shall show you the amazing shots we achieved this weekend!!!

If you like the look of the shoot please do leave comments below, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Have a great evening everyone! x

#TOPCHICRET…THE LEGEND THAT IS CHARLOTTE FREE

Hey everyone (and a MASSIVE welcome to all my new followers!! Hope you enjoy my blog!!) Just seen this on twitter and HAD to share with you all!!

So back in September last year I was casting models for London Fashion Week and there was only one name on everyone’s lips…Charlotte Free. Everyone wanted her in their show and every designer I worked for found themselves mesmerised by her as soon as she walked in the room. Firstly there’s of course the iconic pink hair, and her unique punk meets girly pose but what everyone loves when they meet her is her cool-kid attitude and ability to make EVERY outfit she wears effortlessly edgy and cool. Of course she was one of the main stars of the Vivienne Westwood show, and was famously carried off by one of the other models in the finale as she blew kisses to the crowd. (See my previous post here about the Westwood show including my video of the finale.) I was not surprised when the reviews of that season all contained mentions of Charlotte Free, and now I have just come across this…

So it would seem little Miss Free has done pretty well for herself…as this little PR stunt reveals she is now the new face of Maybelline New York, watch this space…this girl is going to take over the world!!! x

TAKE ME BACK TO THE 1920s…

I have just watched ‘Midnight in Paris’ and I can’t believe it took me so long to get round to watching it! 1920s fashion + Paris = vikkilondon heaven!

Here is the official trailer but trust me when I say it does not do the film credit!!

The trailer seems pretty boring, and you believe it’s just going to be another American film, seeing Paris through American cinematography however now that I’ve watched the film I can see there is almost an irony in how bad the trailer is. The trailer actually reveals nothing! By watching the film you enter this secret world that Gil (played by Owen Wilson) discovers. By just watching the trailer you are naive to what the film actually holds, like he is naive to what Paris after midnight holds. I don’t know if I have explained that too well but you will just HAVE to watch the film and see for yourself!

Of course I do not only have a love of PARIS but 1920′s fashion is probably my favourite era of fashion! Thanks to this film, The Artist and The Great Gatsby (out later this year) 1920s fashion has made a come back for this season, so grab yourself a little dropped waist shift dress, some art deco jewelry and explore what this wonderful era has to offer.

When I was just casually browsing through net-a-porter earlier (as you do on a lazy sunday afternoon) I came across these beauties inspired by the 1920s…

Jimmy Choo (£750)

Marc Jacobs (£2365)

Alberta Ferretti (£2215)

Lanvin Clutch (£1280) - found at Brownsfashion.com (I got side tracked!)

…but of course we don’t all have £2500 to spare for a dress (!!) but there are some great high street alternatives out there too…

Check out this beautiful 1920s sequin top from Lipsy, only £25!

All Saints hand embellished Skallein Dress (£295)

Cleo B at ASOS (£140)

I’m now going to be spending the rest of my evening listening to the ‘Midnight in Paris’ soundtrack, maybe with a glass of wine in hand, dreaming of being in a small Parisian cafe in the 1920s…

WATCH THE FILM! Trust me, you will love it! Have a great evening! x

THE MIDI BOB

So this week started with a trip to the dentist. Not my favourite place to spend my time, but these things have to happen. After an hour or so of painful prodding, pulling and pushing on my teeth I was let free!! Luckily for me, I had foreseen this not-so-nice experience, and had planned the perfect afternoon to shift my post-dentist blues. So I had booked myself in for a hair cut! Being the arty fashion-y student I am, I hadn’t had my hair cut in months and frankly it was lifeless and dull. I decided to try out a small place in my home town of Winchester that had been recommended to me by a friend. Now, my favourite thing in the world when having my hair cut is the head massage during the washing stage. Every time I long for it to continue for hours!! So you can imagine my glee when my fabulous french stylist Patricia overs me a massage the minute I sit in the chair!!!! I get the choice of three oils (I choose Rose) and I’ve been there five minutes and before you know it I’m having a head, neck and shoulder massage! Utter bliss. I’m not going to lie, at first it does feel slightly odd as you are sat in the normal hair dresser’s chair, you do have a mirror in front of you, and whilst you have the urge to shut your eyes and loose yourself in the massage, the presence of the mirror and the hustle and bustle around you doesn’t quite allow you to do so. Yet it’s still the most amazing start to a hair cut!

So Patricia had made me a very happy lady from the word go, (and may I just add I also got the normal massage during the hair washing stage too BARGAIN!) and because she was french and oh so chic, I decided to hand over creative control to her. I was in a good mood now, fancied a change, fancied a buzz from a new look. So here I am now, with a midi bob. Absolutely LOVE it. I call it the midi bob simply because yes it is a bob but to me ‘the bob’ has awful connotations of my younger years where I could not handle my wild hair and decided to go for a ‘shorter’ look that ended up with me looking a bit like a mushroom. However my new midi bob does have a nice length to it, its only just off the shoulders and its got a fab shape. Here’s some celebs also sporting the midi bob – I reckon it’ll come back as a trend soon seeing as the 60′s trend is around and bringing back block fringes and lots of good shapely styles for thick hair! (woo for thick hair!!)

So first we have Alexa…the queen of the midi bob – well the bob family in fact. She reinvents this look every season and always makes it look so effortless and chic.

Next we have the gorgeous Fearne Cotton. Her midi bob is fairly new…so perhaps she will start this next trend?

Finally we have Nicola Roberts with her infamous amazing red midi-bob…

I think you’ll all agree, the midi bob is pretty awesome. For those curious about the salon I went to it was Mawson&Company in The Square in Winchester. http://www.mawsonandcompany.com/index.html
