LFW…SIMONE ROCHA…

So yesterday, even though the Vivienne Westwood after party was in full swing backstage and I was literally rubbing shoulders with the likes of Paloma Faith and Tracey Emin I decided to go home as I knew today was going to be another busy day…and it didn’t disappoint.

Sunday 18th September.
So I turned up semi-early this morning – had a slight lie in – as much as Fashion Week allows. 33 Portland Place was where I was heading today, which turned out to be the location where The Kings Speech was filmed. However today 33 Portland Place was housing Simone Rocha’s show, her first solo show. I assisted with counting in the models and making sure they made it to hair and make up. I helped myself to some gorgeous Pret Brekkie (they had bought a variety of croissants in bulk!! Heaven!) After a great breakfast it was time to get serious and things got quite tense  trying to work out the timings.

Working out timing

With a lot of stairs involved it took some careful consideration however we eventually got all the models together and had a full rehearsal.

Full rehearsal

When it came to the actual show the timing was faultless. It was a beautiful show, the collection was fantastic and received great reviews from everyone in the room. I heard “ooohs” and “awws” coming from all around me, and the whole show brought a tear to my boss’s eye as she had watched Simone grow up.

After the show we went backstage and saw Simone and her family. Simone was virtually in tears too as everyone complimented and congratulated her. She’s such a sweet person and had obviously worked so hard on this collection, and it definitely paid off as it looked fabulous. For many I heard it was their highlight of this season so far. Susie Lau (AKA Susie Bubble) came backstage too to congratulate Simone and we joined everyone in the celebrations with a quick glass of champers before our next show/castings.
